Accessibility
Good wishes are for everyone, so the site should work for everyone. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we have built in
- Everything can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
- Menus, dialogs and the search box announce their state to screen readers and close with Escape.
- Text can be zoomed to 200% without losing content, and pages reflow on small screens.
- Colours are chosen for contrast in both light and dark mode, and meaning is never carried by colour alone.
- Animation is minimal and is switched off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Buttons and links on phones are large enough to tap comfortably.
- Decorative illustrations are hidden from screen readers; meaningful images have text alternatives.
Known limitations
- Picture cards are images. The same words are always available as text beside them.
- Some older articles may contain images without detailed descriptions.
- Content in Hindi and other Indian languages is still being added.
How we test
We test with keyboard-only navigation and automated checks before releases, and we fix what readers report.
Tell us about a barrier
