May you keep listening with patience, celebrating small victories and finding your way back to laughter. Congratulations, and may your married life be rich in peace, affection and wonderful memories.
heartfelt
There is so much love in the way you look at each other today. I hope life gives you many more moments like this, along with the quieter joys that matter just as much: morning tea, shared errands, familiar jokes and a hand to hold after a long day. Happy married life to you both.
heartfelt
Congratulations on finding a partner who feels like both adventure and comfort. May you build a life that reflects who you truly are—not just on grand occasions, but in every regular Tuesday and late-night conversation. Sending you both immense love and my warmest wishes.
heartfelt
The loveliest thing about you two is how easily you make room for each other—at the dinner table, in big decisions and even during those tiny debates about whose turn it is to order dessert. May your marriage keep that same kindness at its centre. Congratulations, and lots of love for all the ordinary days that will become your favourite memories.
heartfelt
From the first time I saw you together, there was a quiet comfort between you that felt very special. May your home be a place where both of you can laugh loudly, rest honestly and still be yourselves. Wishing you a beautiful wedding and a life full of patience, partnership and plenty of shared treats.
heartfelt
A good marriage isn’t made only of grand celebrations; it’s built in saved seats, extra rotis, honest conversations and checking whether the other person reached home safely. You already give each other that kind of care. May it stay with you through every season. So happy for you both.
funny
To the couple who makes love look calm, cheerful and wonderfully real: may you always be each other’s safest person and favourite teammate. And may there be enough laughter to survive every furniture decision, family group message and argument over what to watch next. Heartiest congratulations.
heartfelt
Your wedding is a celebration of love, but also of the friendship and respect that brought you here. May you keep listening to one another, cheering for separate dreams and finding your way back to laughter after difficult days. Dher saari khushiyan tum dono ke naam—congratulations and lots of love.
inspirational
May the two of you build a life that feels like your own: warm, honest, slightly silly and full of the people and traditions you choose. Wishing you peaceful mornings, exciting plans, dependable support and many late-night conversations that begin with “just one thing” and last an hour. So happy to celebrate you.

Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], from the first time we met, it was clear that you bring out a calm, happy energy in each other. Congratulations on your wedding. May your life together be filled with trust, laughter and a deep sense of belonging. I hope you always make time for the small things that become the best memories: tea after a long day, an unplanned drive, a familiar joke and a hand held quietly across the table. As you begin married life, may you support each other’s dreams without losing the individuality that brought you together. I’m grateful to know you and honoured to celebrate this day with you. Wishing you both many peaceful years, exciting adventures and a home that feels warm to everyone who enters it. With love and my heartiest congratulations, [Your name].
heartfelt
Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], congratulations on this beautiful wedding. I’ve always admired the way you listen to each other, even when you disagree, and the way a simple conversation between you can turn into laughter. That kind of friendship is a wonderful foundation for married life. May the years ahead bring you patience on busy days, courage when plans change and enough ordinary happiness to make every week feel special. I hope your home holds music, good food, honest conversations and the people who make you feel most like yourselves. Thank you for letting us share in this celebration. May today’s joy stay close to you as you build a life that is completely your own. With affection and warmest wishes, [Your name].

Dear [Name], today I’m thinking about how far you’ve come—from the person I knew at [shared memory] to the happy, confident person standing beside [Partner’s name]. Your wedding is a celebration of love, but also of the thoughtful life you are choosing to build together. May you give each other room to grow, reasons to laugh and steady support through every change. I wish you the kind of marriage that is visible in grand celebrations but felt most deeply in small moments: saving the last piece of cake, checking in after a difficult day and knowing when silence is enough. I’m sorry I can’t be there to hug you, but I’m sending my warmest wishes from afar. May your wedding be joyful and your years together even richer. With lots of love, [Your name].
heartfelt
Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], what a joy it is to see you begin this next part of your lives. Your relationship has always seemed grounded in something precious: you make space for each other to be honest, curious and wonderfully imperfect. I hope marriage gives that quality even more room to grow. May you celebrate every success, meet difficult days as a team and keep making time for the conversations that began your story. May your home be a place of welcome, whether it is filled with friends, family, books, music or simply the quiet comfort of an evening together. Thank you for including us in your wedding celebration. We are sending you love, admiration and our very best wishes for a life full of peace, laughter and shared purpose. With warm regards, [Your name].
heartfelt
Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], congratulations on your wedding day. The joy around you today is easy to see, but I hope you also remember the quieter promise beneath all the flowers and photographs: to keep meeting one another with kindness. May that promise guide you through busy seasons, unexpected changes and the ordinary routines that make up a life. I wish you a marriage with room for individual dreams and shared adventures, serious conversations and ridiculous jokes, family traditions and new rituals that belong only to you. Thank you for giving everyone who loves you a reason to gather and celebrate. May your partnership remain generous, brave and full of warmth. Here’s to many years of learning, laughing and coming home to each other. With heartfelt congratulations, [Your name].
heartfelt
Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], as you celebrate your wedding, I hope you know how many people are quietly rooting for your happiness. A lasting partnership is built not only through grand promises, but through everyday care: remembering the important appointment, sharing the work, making room for one another’s tiredness and finding something funny at the end of a long day. May your life together be full of that kind of care. May you also have brave dreams, generous friendships and enough unplanned moments to keep discovering each other. I’m grateful to witness this beginning and delighted to send my love. Wishing you both a marriage that feels peaceful when life is loud, joyful when life is ordinary and strong enough to hold every version of your future. Congratulations, and with warm affection, [Your name].

May your bond be strengthened by respect, your home brightened by laughter and your days enriched by thoughtful companionship. I hope you continue to support one another’s ambitions while creating traditions that feel distinctly yours. Please know how happy we are to mark this special occasion with you. May the years ahead bring good health, meaningful work, loving friendships and countless memories with both families. We send you our warmest blessings and sincere best wishes for a peaceful, prosperous and joyful married life. With affection, [Your name].

Thank you for allowing us to share this important day. We wish you peaceful mornings, exciting plans, strong friendship and a lifetime of memories that are far better than anything a photographer can capture. Congratulations and much love from all of us, [Your name].
heartfelt
Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], what a joy it is to celebrate this wonderful day with you. I’ve always admired the way you bring out each other’s best qualities—your patience, your humour and that lovely ability to make even a crowded room feel comfortable. As you begin married life, I hope you protect the small rituals that make your relationship yours: the shared cup of chai, the Sunday errands that somehow become outings and the conversations that continue long after everyone else has gone to sleep. May you face changes as a team, celebrate each other’s wins without keeping score and find tenderness in the ordinary days between festivals and milestones. Congratulations to you both. With warmest wishes and much affection, [Your name]
heartfelt
Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], congratulations on your wedding. Watching you arrive at this day has been such a pleasure, because your happiness feels generous—it makes everyone around you smile. I hope married life gives you both the freedom to grow, the courage to have honest conversations and the wisdom to choose kindness when the day has been long. May your home hold good music, unplanned guests, comfort food and space for each of your dreams. When life is busy, I hope you still make time for the little things: a walk after dinner, a message from the market and a laugh over some old family story. Wishing you years of companionship, peace and wonderful surprises. With love and every good wish, [Your name]

Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], please accept my warm congratulations on this special occasion. I may know one of you better than the other, but it’s clear that you’ve found a partnership filled with respect, ease and genuine happiness. May your life together be welcoming to both families while still leaving room for the traditions, habits and dreams that belong uniquely to you. I wish you steady support on difficult days, loud laughter on the good ones and the patience to discuss every important matter—including dinner plans and the correct way to load the dishwasher. May this wedding be the beginning of many celebrations shared with the people who love you. Best wishes for a peaceful, joyful married life. Warm regards, [Your name]
heartfelt
To my dear friend, today I’m thinking about all the versions of you I’ve known: the one who survived impossible deadlines, the one who sent voice notes at 2 a.m., and the one who somehow always had room for one more person at the table. Seeing you marry someone who understands your heart makes me deeply happy. May your life together be full of honest talks, silly private jokes, shared chai and the confidence that you never have to face a difficult day alone. Keep celebrating each other’s small victories, not just the big milestones. I hope your home becomes the place where both of you can arrive tired and leave lighter. Congratulations, my friend. I’m cheering for you both, always. With lots of love, [Your name]
heartfelt
Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], your wedding day has brought together so much love, laughter and happy chaos. I hope that feeling stays with you long after the last photograph is taken and the decorations come down. Marriage will bring busy weeks, unexpected changes and plenty of decisions that seem far more serious than they really are. Through all of it, may you remain curious about each other, generous with apologies and quick to celebrate the good news. May your home welcome friends, family and the occasional unplanned dinner guest; may your partnership give each of you strength without taking away your individuality. Congratulations on finding a love that can be both joyful and grounded. Wishing you a lifetime of shared comfort, brave dreams and excellent snacks. With affection, [Your name]
heartfelt
Dear [Name] and [Partner’s name], although I couldn’t be there to celebrate in person, I’ve been thinking of you and sending my warmest wishes from afar. I hope the ceremony was beautiful, the food was plentiful and someone remembered to take a quiet moment between the photographs and the family greetings to simply enjoy being married. As you begin this new phase, may you build a life shaped by mutual respect, open communication and the little comforts that make a house feel like home. Keep making space for separate interests as well as shared plans, and keep returning to laughter when the world feels too serious. Congratulations to you both. I’m sorry to miss the celebration, but I’m truly delighted for you. With love, [Your name]

How to choose the right wedding card message
Start with your relationship to the couple, not with the fanciest sentence. A best friend can be playful and personal; a colleague usually needs something warm but more measured; an elder may naturally write blessings; and a distant acquaintance can keep it simple. If you know only the bride or groom, address both partners by name if you know them, or write “to the happy couple” rather than leaving one person out.
Then match the message to the moment. A message before the ceremony can say “Wishing you both a beautiful wedding day,” while a post-wedding note can say “Congratulations on beginning this wonderful chapter together.” For a reception, mention the celebration rather than guessing which ritual has taken place. If the wedding combines several events, neutral wording about love, partnership and happiness is perfectly appropriate.
For a quick personal touch, add the couple’s names, one quality you admire and a wish for their life together. You might write: “Your kindness and easy laughter have always made people feel welcome. May your home be full of both.” That small detail will sound more sincere than a grand line copied without context.
What to write on a wedding gift or shagun envelope
A gift envelope needs clarity more than poetry. “Congratulations to you both. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness — with warm wishes from the Sharma family” is enough for a family gift. If you are writing alone, use your name and the couple’s names when you know them. If the envelope comes from an office or group of friends, sign it as “With warm wishes, the Bluebird team” or list the group name.
“Congratulations” is entirely fine for an Indian wedding, especially when you are writing as a friend, colleague or peer. “Best wishes” feels neutral and works before or after the ceremony. “Blessings” suits an elder, parent or traditional family setting. “Happy married life” is common in Indian English and friendly for WhatsApp, but “Wishing you a joyful life together” sounds a little more polished in a formal card.
If you barely know the couple or are unsure of the partner’s name, write “Warm wishes to the newlyweds” or “Congratulations to the happy couple.” You do not need to invent a personal story. A short, respectful line is better than a dramatic message that does not sound like you.
Indian wedding wording without making assumptions
Indian weddings can include a roka, mehendi, haldi, sangeet, main ceremony, vidaai, reception or walima, and families may celebrate across several days. Name the event only when you are sure. “Wishing you a beautiful wedding celebration” works across formats, including a civil ceremony, church wedding, nikah, Anand Karaj, reception or a celebration abroad.
Traditional or spiritual wording is best treated as a choice, not a default. An elder may write a blessing for a Hindu wedding; a Muslim family may prefer a prayer for the couple’s nikah or walima; Sikh friends may mention Anand Karaj; and a Christian family may welcome a faith-based blessing. When you do not know the couple’s preference, choose inclusive words such as peace, companionship, laughter, love and shared happiness.
For interfaith, intercaste, court, second or remarriage celebrations, focus on the couple rather than assumptions about rituals, children, gender roles or family arrangements. “May the life you build together be full of understanding, courage and everyday happiness” is warm without telling the couple what their marriage should look like. The same approach works beautifully for LGBTQ+ couples and modern blended families.
English, Hindi, Hinglish and regional languages can all feel right. If you type in Roman script, a natural Hinglish line may be better than a stiff word-for-word translation. You can also pair a short English wish with a Hindi or regional-language blessing. When you need Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi or Odia wording, keep the language natural to the family rather than mixing in formal phrases they would never use.
A simple way to personalise a longer card
A thoughtful card does not need a life story. Begin with congratulations, add something true about the couple, then wish them well for ordinary married life: good conversations, patient teamwork, laughter after long days and a home where both people feel understood. Close with your name or your family’s name. This structure works for a friend, sibling, cousin, colleague or family elder.
For example, a friend might write: “Congratulations, you two! Watching your friendship grow into this beautiful partnership has been such a joy. May married life bring you plenty of laughter, calm on difficult days and many reasons to celebrate. We’re so happy for you both and can’t wait to see all the good things ahead. With lots of love, Ananya.” Adapt the memory and tone so it sounds like something you would actually say.
If you cannot attend, acknowledge it briefly instead of making the message about your absence: “I’m sorry I can’t be there to celebrate in person, but I’m sending you both my warmest wishes.” If the card is from a family, sign as “With love, the Mehta family.” If you know one partner better, you can say “Dear Riya and Arjun” and add a line about your relationship with Riya without excluding Arjun.
Just for fun
Can I just write “Congratulations” and sign my name?Show the answer
Absolutely. If the card is tiny, the couple is not very close to you, or the envelope is already crowded, a sincere “Congratulations to you both. Wishing you lots of happiness” is more than enough. Nobody is awarding marks for paragraph length.
Is “happy married life” too simple?Show the answer
Not at all—it’s a familiar, friendly Indian expression and works especially well on WhatsApp. If you want it to sound more polished in a card, try “Wishing you a joyful and beautiful life together.”
Can a funny wedding wish mention who is in charge at home?Show the answer
Only if you know the couple enjoys that kind of teasing, and even then, keep it affectionate. Skip jokes about divorce, dowry, controlling spouses or in-laws; a line about shared snacks, remote-control diplomacy or laughing through everyday chaos is much safer.
Questions people ask
What do you write in a wedding card?
Begin with congratulations, mention the couple warmly, add a wish for their life together and sign your name. For example: “Congratulations to you both! May your marriage be filled with love, laughter and steady support. Wishing you a beautiful life together.”
How do you congratulate a newly married couple?
Say “Congratulations to you both” and follow it with a personal or inclusive wish. “May this new chapter bring you peace, friendship, wonderful memories and plenty of reasons to smile” works for most couples and ceremonies.
What do you write on a wedding gift envelope in India?
Keep it short and clear: “Congratulations to the happy couple. With warm wishes, the Rao family.” You can use “blessings” if you are writing as an elder, or “love and best wishes” for a friend, colleague or younger relative.
What is a short wedding wish for WhatsApp?
Try: “Congratulations, you two! Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter and happy memories.” For a more casual message, “So happy for you both—happy married life!” is natural and easy to send.
How do you wish someone happy married life?
“Happy married life” is a perfectly familiar phrase in Indian English. You can write “Wishing you both a very happy married life, filled with love, understanding and laughter,” or use “Wishing you a joyful life together” for a more neutral style.
What do you say when you cannot attend a wedding?
Congratulate the couple first, then briefly say you are sorry to miss the celebration. “I’m sorry I can’t be there, but I’m sending you both my warmest wishes for a beautiful wedding and a happy life together” is kind without making the card about you.
What is the difference between wedding wishes and invitation wording?
Wedding wishes are messages guests write to congratulate the couple in a card, gift, WhatsApp message or caption. Invitation wording is written by the hosts or couple and gives guests details such as names, dates, venues, ceremonies and RSVP information; it belongs on an invitation, not in a guest’s greeting card.
How do you wish an interfaith or intercaste couple?
Use inclusive language about love, partnership, respect, peace and shared happiness unless you know the couple wants a specific religious reference. “May your life together be full of understanding, joy and the courage to keep choosing each other” is warm without making assumptions.
