Yoga has obtained a formal acceptance of the United Nations General Assembly on 11 December 2014. The United Nations General Assembly then recognized on June 21 as the World Yoga Day. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested the date of June 21 as World Yoga Day in his speech from the United Nations General Assembly. This day holds a meaning because it is the longest day of the northern hemisphere and one of the two special days when the sun’s rays fall directly into one of the two lines of tropical latitudes. This is why June 21 was decided appropriately to be chosen as “Yoga International Day”.
The first international yoga day was successfully celebrated in the world’s different regions on June 21, 2015. Approximately 35985 people over 85 countries participated and practiced yoga in Rajpath, New Delhi. And more than 20 million people practiced yoga the same day in the United States. With this enthusiasm and enthusiasm among young people and even in adults, this method of healing has acquired international importance.
